Panamanian Suite,    The Recording

Based on the work written by United States composers for Panama between 1880 and 1922, Panamanian Suite reimagines the music's context, sounds, and meaning. This music is presented, and its meaning is discussed in the first movement (Pre-Jazz) of the book Reimagining Panama’s Musical and Cultural Narratives of Jazz: Panamanian Suite written by Patricia Zarate de Perez.

The composition by Danilo Perez, Elegant Dance, works as a bridge to connect the past, the present with the future of Panamanian music. Based on the Panamanian folkloric rhythm and dance Punto, Elegant Dance brings the Panamanian tinge into the jazz context and expands the concepts of Latin tinge and Tambo jazz.
